Whenever you open Task Manager and go to the Processes tab, you see a list of executable file names, including the infamous “svchost.exe”. This really doesn’t do much good in figuring out which process is locking which files or accessing a certain DLL. Enter Process Explorer.
While this information may seem overwhelming when looking at it, there are search tools available to help you filter the myriad amount of information down into what you are looking for. The interface is quite intuitive as the screen is divided into two logical parts: processes and process “components”.
If you deal in tech support, this utility is a must have.
