Product Review: Logitech LX3 Optical Mouse

I bought a replacement mouse for my old Logitech USB optical mouse which has given me over five years of trouble-free faithful service. The one I decided to buy was a Logitech LX3. It is a lower-end model but not so low as to be considered bargain-bin. In other words, a slightly-above-par mouse.

Or so I thought.

The LX3 is absolutely terrible. It feels weird in the hand, the extra left-scroll/right-scroll wheel buttons sound cool to begin with but prove to be worthless very quickly due to the odd finger motions to make it work. Yes, it does operate properly, but the overall feel of the mouse is just plain bad.

I bought this mouse earlier today. Currently it’s back in its box and I’m going to go get a refund. I hated it that much.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this mouse a -1000. It sucks.

Indeed, what a strange mouse this is. The stupid salesperson at MyCom talked me into this one, because the others were sold-out. One would think Logitech has the mouse-comfort down, but this seems not the way.
The LX3 Optical has very weird movement accellerating speed (deviating from the norm), and as said before: The shape is just idiotic and feels crappy. No matter how you change its settings, they remain off.
Looks a lot better than it feels and functions. DON’T BUY THIS ONE!
I too am returning it tomorrow. I’d rather get my money back (I thought 24,95 euros was expensive by the way) than strain injure my hand with this mistake.

I actually like this mouse a lot. It feels fine in my hand and I don’t have any speed problems with it. I did find the left and right scroll functions to be quite useless, but using the setpoint program from logitech I simply replaced them. Now my left middle click is alt-tab and it is really convenient. I don’t find it hard at all to use the left and right wheel either. It is quite cheap so I am satisfied with my purchase.

its terrible for gaming. the buttons and top of the mouse are one piece so it’s hard to push down. my fingers ached after a bit. awful. it looks nice but dont get deceived by that like i did.

Well iv had this mouse for about half a year. It hurts your fingers after a few minutes of clicking. It’s retarded how far I have to push my index finger to left click. Now when I try highlighting a sentence or hold down the left button it stops half way unless I push down really hard. It’s not comfortable it’s just another mouse whoever told you otherwise is lying.

bought this mouse a month ago, initially i felt it was really good because, well it was new. But after a week or so, It was (as you said) plain terrible! But i know apart from these other logitech mouses are awesome. like the MX versions..

I recieved my LX3 as a Christmas gift to replace my 5 year old Microsoft optical mouse that I paid $25 for.
I was as excited as piss to get a new mouse, especially a Logitech. I was expecting this mouse to behave similar to the MX518 which I have used and love.
The LX3 bears no resemblance to the MX518. It is utter garbage.
My main problem with this mouse is the tracking problems. My mouse cursor is extremely jumpy at all speeds. I have seen $5 mechanical and optical mice perform better than this. Even after downloading a 50 megabyte driver installer from logitech, I cannot draw a straight line in paint any where near as well as with my old Microsoft mouse. If you move the mouse in one direction at a very slow speed, the cursor will jitter about in place. In some cases, it will actually move the opposite direction you are dragging the mouse. This behavior is reproduced on my computer desk and on notebook paper, aside from my mouse pad.
I dont have too much to say about the feel of the mouse. That is all personal preferance. I think the mouse is not wide enough, and it is quite heavy for its size. The only thing I like about the LX3 is the matte black finish on the sides.
The buttons are not suitable for gaming or creative work. They require too much movement to activate the button. The button surfaces are glossy smooth, so when you apply enough force to click the buttons, the mouse has a tendency to slide backward.

Same as above, garbage mouse. Tried to use it for photoshop, can barely get it to the right pixel location. Dont know why, it’s just really ‘odd’

i hav used this mouse now for three years and have had no problems with it i play games and edit video

I’m no mouse expert. But I’ve had this mouse since 2006. Don’t know what you’re all talking about with it hurting your fingers. (Man up! ) I game at quite a high level (cs:s, cod4) and I don’t feel the need to buy a new mouse yet. Its simple, easy to use and lightweight.
I’m not gonna buy a new one until I smash it to pieces by accident or it fails to click.
I like it! (for my purposes anyway).

mine was awesome for two years, you whining weiners. Its a good mouse, but now i got some issues with it. Click wheel and mouse2 buttons dont work, tryin to figure out how to fix it cuz i love this mouse bwahaha
