Professional Sound Editing With Goldwave

Posted Feb 5, 2008 by Jason Faulkner

For those of you out there doing sound editing, either for video, “podcasts” or music, on your Windows machine, you owe it to yourself to check out Goldwave. Goldwave offers more features than you are likely to ever need, including (from the website):

  • Apply special effects, such as fade, equalizer, doppler, mechanize, echo, reverse, flanger, and more
  • Digitally remaster and restore old recordings with noise reduction and pop/click filters
  • Command line processing

Of course all this is in addition to the standard set of tools you would expect to find. Goldwave offers a fully functional trial version which you can use to evaluate the product to see if it is right for you. One feature that really catches my eye is the command line processing, as this means you could create batch files to do long and processor intensive tasks unattended.

I used to use Goldwave a long time ago when I was producing electronic music and can safely say this program is top notch.

I’ll take CoolEdit Pro or SoundForge any day of the week over Goldwave. Much more powerful
