I recently upgraded my dad’s home computer to a much better system. Of course during the transition process I did my best to copy all their files from the old system to the new. About a month later I get a call asking about where their resume was on the new computer, I searched for it on both machines and could not find it. We concluded the file had been accidentally deleted at some point before the transition.
After talking about the file, he mentioned he had emailed to someone beforehand, so I went and searched his email history and there it was. We were able to pull up the email with the attachment and then save the attachment.
In this case the sent files acted as a pretty good recovery medium, but don’t count on this as your only backup method!
