Red Hat Linux 5.2 Installation

When I got back from my yummy sandwich, It told me that it
autoprobed my PCI Video card, and found it to be a S3 Virge.  It then copied the
files it would need to run XFree86.  It also asked me things about my monitor, and
finally decided to run XWindows at 640×480 at 8Bit color (256 Colors)

After that was all done, it asked me if I wanted to set up
the LAN stuff.  Being I don’t have a LAN, I told it NO!

After that, it asked me what services (drivers) it should
start up when Linux is starting up.  Being I don’t know what APC and QRT meant……I
just chose them all, and continued on my marry way. :)

The installation program then asked me for the most
important piece of information I was going to give it.  "What is going to be the
password for the root account?"  You see, the Root account, is the admin for the
machine.  The person with that account is the only person that can access certain
files, and can properly shut down the system.  REMEMBER THE PASSWORD YOU TELL IT.
And make sure the caps lock key isn’t activated…I’ve made that mistake
before. :(

And finally, if asked me I wanted to install LILO, which is
the first program your computer finds when it boots up..LILO will then boot Linux, with
just the stroke of the "ENTER" key.  Personally, I did not wish to install
it, being I was going to use LOADLIN, which
is a program that can start Linux, from DOS.

After all that was done, I restarted my computer, booted
into Windows 98, and proceeded to get all my Loadlin information and batch files working.
Exactly what I did is covered in the following link. LOADLIN

That’s all for now, with my exploits into the World of LINUX.  I will continue my exploits by doing
whatever you guys want me to.  Drop me a line at the e-mail link at the bottom of the
page, which is coming up, sooner than you think.
