Domain names are getting to the point where they are at a premium. That being said, make sure you own your own name as a domain. It can be quite useful for posting your resume online (looks very professional) and if you have a static IP from your ISP, it is a nice way to access your home computer without having to remember the IP address.
Considering registrars, such as GoDaddy, change less than $10 per year, grab it before someone else does. Even if you don’t use it, it’s better than YourName.com becoming a site of, shall we say, questionable integrity.
