Removing Right-Click “New” Items In Windows 7 (VIDEO)

(Note: This will also work in Windows Vista)

Something that’s still a problem in Windows – even in 7 – is that there is no easy way to remove items from the “New” menu. The “New” menu is what you see when you right-click on an empty area of the desktop and hover over “New”. Some of us, yours truly included, use this from time to time because it’s an easy way to create new specific file types. However it can turn into a mess in short order once you start installing software that keeps adding items to that menu.

The video below will show you how to remove “New” items. It does require registry hacking, but fortunately this registry hack is easy.

    Hi Rich
This is the first time I’ve heard/seen one of your videos. You are very good at it. No ums and ahs (very Australian), concise, polite, not patronising. And, of course, it was informative.
    Thanks for the lesson.
