If you use either DSL or a Cable Modem and find your Internet connection has unexpectedly gone down, before you dial up tech support, try “resetting” your Internet connection. Here is how:
- Shut down your computer.
- If you have a router, unplug it.
- Unplug your DSL / Cable Modem.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug your DSL / Cable Modem back in.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- If you have a router, plug it back in.
- Turn on your computer.
For the most part, this will fix any connections where your Internet connection has all of a sudden gone down without you having reconfigured your environment. However, if your ISP is having issues at the time, this will not fix it (as it is up to them), but it is a good starting point for troubleshooting.

Yeah, hi, I was trying to get info that would allow me to delete the novell client login screen when i try to start up my desktop computer. I am trying to install windows millenium 2000 start up disk, and the windows 2000 professional is already installed onto my computer, but i can not log in. Can you give me some helpful info on how i would be able to recover or change the administrator password for the novell client that keeps prompting me for log in? All I want to really do is make it to where i can log in to my server just by getting a new password, and or bypassing old administator password so that i can log in to my server without hassle. So can you send me some info on how to recover administrator password, or how to make me a new password so that i will be able to log in, please help me out i am severely stuck and have been at a stand still for the last three days trying to figure out how to get an internet access or at least get my support system all set up, thank you i really appriciate all of your time please get back to me as soon as possible at smokeit14000@yahoo.com, thanks bye bye.
Before going through all that first try to “repair” the network connection. This will eliminate any problem between the router and the network adapter. In Windows just right-click on the network connection icon in the system tray and choose “Repair”. If the icon is not visible go to the network connections folder in the Control Panel and do the same thing in the corresponding network connection icon.
If you have a cable modem, you may also want to try disconnecting then reconnecting the cable. It worked for me and I believe the reason is that the wires are cleaned by this action.
