Retro: Man Pays Over $2,500 For NIB Apple IIc

In the automotive world, the best parts you can possibly get for older cars are called NOS, "New Old Stock". A NOS part ensures an exacting proper fit to the vehicle it was designed for and commands good money depending on the part and the car it’s for.

In the computer world the best parts are NIB, "New In Box".

(Side note: I’m shocked that nobody uses NIBNO as a quick abbreviation for New In Box, Never Opened. Well, guess what? I just invented the term. You can send me royalty checks later. Ha!)

So anyway, there’s this guy.. in New York.. who bought a NIBNO Apple II for $2600 – very happily I might add.

If you’re up on your computer trivia at all, the Apple II is by today’s standards an unusable computer. It doesn’t multitask. It uses 5.25-inch floppies.

But if you thought Mac users were fanatical, ha! Apple II users are just as dedicated. Seriously. Remember, the Apple II is not a Mac.

Personal opinion: That old-old-old Apple II looks way better than any Mac ever did. Fantastic design – and it worked.

– edit –

It just so happens I have an Apple television commercial for this particular box on my YouTube channel. Enjoy.

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...

Typically, collectors refer to these sorts of items as MIB…Mint In Box. As in, boxed in mint condition.
