Rush Limbaugh’s Appeal to Steve Jobs

Technology must have a way of making everybody equal. If people have problems with their computers, that means even the people with big influence are having those problems. And Rush Limbaugh is no exception.

image The conservative radio talkshow host is an owner of 4 Mac Pro computers. He just upgraded them with the Leopard 10.5.2 update. But, he was having a couple of problems (he didn’t specify what they were) with the systems that he was hoping would be fixed by 10.5.2 and they were not.

"I’ve been having two problems since I went to Leopard that I hoped this update would solve, and it didn’t solve them; and it’s frustrating. …(Apple representatives) file reports and get lost in the Apple bureaucratic system — and occasionally a good-intentioned, good-hearted Apple rep will get on the phone, try to solve it, and will say, "Yep. It’s the same problem I’m having on my machine."

He publicly wondered if he should use the "Golden EIB microphone" to put in an appeal to Steve Jobs.

Do you think I ought to make an appeal, a direct appeal to Steve Jobs from behind the Golden EIB Microphone?  ‘Mr. Jobs, please help me.’  I know we don’t agree on anything. You love Al Gore — and by the way, I’ve got no problem with him now, but can you put me to somebody that can get this going, because I know it’s gotta work for most people.  What am I doing wrong?"

Apple does make strange bed fellows. Aren’t Apple users supposed to be liberals? But, Limbaugh has been a long time champion of Apple products. One of Limbaugh’s people wondered if Jobs would like such support:

If you put out this appeal to Steve Jobs and ask him to help, his reply is going to be, ‘Mr. Limbaugh. Do us a favor and endorse Windows.

I only wonder what the two problems are that Rush is having. I have a Mac Pro as well as nothing is jumping out at me.
