Setting Trusted Sites

Posted Feb 16, 2007 by Jason Faulkner

To me, the most annoying side effect of the “indespensible” browser security is that they warn you of every possible security risk. While I certainly understand the thinking behind it, whenever I visit my own company’s OWA, I have to answer yes to about 4 security warnings (I use IE7 to access it).  Enough already.

The great way to get around these prompts if you constantly visit a certain site is to set the address as a trusted site:

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Select the Trusted sites icon and click Sites.
  4. Add sites to the list you do not want to receive security warnings from. Additionally, this will disable the IE popup blocker for this site.

As an added tip, you can enable all subdomains for a particular domain by entering the trusted site as: http://*.mydomain.com/
