On one of the crew t-shirts is seen “End of an Era”; that’s because Shuttle Endeavor in this video is getting prepared for its final departure – as in the last one it ever takes.
America was at one point very “space crazy” where everyone was talking about it. Called the “Space Race”, it started in 1957 and ended in 1975 where rivalring nations (of which the US was obviously a player) were competing to see who had the best space program.
Unfortunately in today’s world, “I want to be an astronaut!” is not one of the top 5 answers to the “What do you want to be when you grow up?” kid’s question anymore. It’s probably not even in the top 10. That’s sad, but true.
This doesn’t take away from the fact however that the Endeavor has had an amazing run, and that I for one truly do appreciate the awesomeness that is NASA.
You can follow shuttle news here if you want to follow along with Endeavor’s final travels.
