Silverlight Games

For all its faults and overuse Flash does do a few things well: online video and web games. Microsoft’s version, Silverlight, seeks to offer an alternative or replace Flash for web developers. So on that note if you want to give Silverlight games a look, check out the Silverlight Competition page. For this competition, developers submitted games written using Silverlight with the winner’s game to be include in Server Quest 2 (a Silverlight based game written by Microsoft).

From what I can tell, these games are no different that Flash based games. Of course the quality of the game is primarily driven by the developer, but from an end user perspective I cannot tell the difference. Under the hood, Silverlight may offer advantages Flash does not but ultimately I just see Silverlight as another ‘necessary evil’ which users may have to install.
