If you have a valid copy of Windows 98, you can use the member features of Windows Update without actually registering the software. Here’s how:

1. Run regedit.exe and open the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion.
2. Add/Edit the following string value: RegDone.
3. Give it the value 1.
4. Close the registry editor.
