If you have a valid copy of Windows 98, you can use the member features of Windows Update without actually registering the software. Here’s how:
- Run regedit.exe and open the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion.
- Add/Edit the following string value: RegDone.
- Give it the value 1.
- Close the registry editor.
As with all registry hacks, back up your registry before implementing.
