Subscribe To Retailer Newsletters For Deals

Posted Dec 19, 2007 by Jason Faulkner

Usually I am very reserved with regards to what I submit my email address to. I typically don’t use my primary email on any site which I think will put me on their “notifications” list and I always opt out of “notify me about [insert promise here]” messages.

Recently, however, I have subscribed to a select few website’s newsletters hoping to get some promotion codes for purchases, and believe it or not, it has paid off. I subscribed to 3 newsletters and have so far used 4 promotion codes from them I normally would not have received. I get about 5 extra emails a week (total between all 3 sites), so it is a small price to pay. I anticipate once I am no longer in the market that I will remove myself from their lists once again so there is no temptation to buy anything I don’t need.

The only thing I would advise is for you to read the privacy policy posted on the website you are thinking of subscribing to. While I am always skeptical about how much is true versus lip service, if there is any mention of giving my information to the dubious “third party”, I pass.
