There are times when you need to have letters typed out that show an accent, such as é. Ordinarily this requires opening up the Character Map program or using some other utility to have those letters typed out.
A really cool, free and small utility to take care of this task for you is Accents. This can be run either as an AutoHotKey script or as a standalone executable. The way it works is ridiculously simple. If you want the letter ‘e’ to appear with an accent, type it three times to get accent choices.
Confused? Don’t worry, I’ve made a video showing how it’s done. This is a must-have program/script as far as I’m concerned as it’s very handy to have.

For those who wirte documents in languagues that use accented characters it is best to use the “US International” keyboard layout in Windows. No extra software needed.
For acute accents, all you need to is use AltGr key plus the vowel.
The vast majority of US keyboards do not have an AltGr key; we have Menu key, which in most instances is a keyboard shortcut to a right-click menu and will not echo letters with accent marks.
Hi Rich,
I installed and used AHK from your tutorial and was successful in creating 3 macros. I even got them to Auto Run on Startup. However, I could not get this script to run in AHK. After typing a vowel 3 times, I got a long string of characters with numbers in sequence.
I installed the accents.exe file and it runs correctly.
