I recently started an afternoon version of PCMech Live for our UK visitors so it wouldn’t be so late for them. It worked out well. The video below shows the first 20 minutes of the show and how things normally fare out.
Things to note:
We also have a standard Wednesday night @ 8PM show as well.
If you are signed up to the PCMech Newsletter you will be notified of shows before they go on-air for live interaction.
One question that has been asked in live chat is how we post our recorded live Ustream videos to YouTube afterwards. Ustream has the ability to convert recorded shows into a compatible YouTube format such as WMV and MOV. See video below for details on how this is done.
I ran across a new lie webcam site today called Seero. With PCMech LIVE, we are users of Ustream. Ustream, so far, has been the best service I’ve tested. So, is Seero just a Ustream clone (like Yahoo LIVE)? Actually, no. Because Seero is mixing it with mapping technology and GPS.
Say what?
There is a story on Webware talking about Seero. As the story puts it, Seero is no really being designed for broad consumer use (lifecasting). It could fit in quite well for things like sporting events, though. And assumedly, anybody with the money to fork out for the needed equipment could do it. However, it works best when you’re using a computer connected to GPS. That wouldn’t be the cheapest thing to pull off.
You can check out the setup by checking out John Rife’s video stream. I met this guy out in Orlando at BlogOrlando, and he and his wife do a video podcast from around the country. He is obviously an ideal fit for a service like Seero.
This one is worth watching. At this point, there is a lot of development ahead of Seero. Plus, it has the potential to turn into one of those cool, but useless things on the Internet. But, again, we shall see. There was a time when we would have though a service like UStream was dumb.
PCMech LIVE is our new live show that we are doing via Ustream.Tv. While we are live streaming pretty much 24/7, our scheduled show time is 8 PM EST on Wednesday evenings.
We’ve had a LOT of people ask how we put together the feed. I have prepared a video for you which shows how I run the stream out of my home office. Here are links to the hardware and software that I am using, then you can watch the video to see how it is done.
Since starting the live chat I get asked how I put together the stream. I use WebCamMax. In the video below I give a quick explanation on how I have mine configured.
