Taking a ScreenShot of a Video in Windows Media Player

Posted Oct 13, 2004 by David Risley

When you want to take a few screenshots from a movie clip in Windows Media Player, press Print+Screen, paste it in an image editing program, and you get a black screen. The reason for this is due to Hardware Acceleration being enabled. But you can turn this feature off.

In Windows Media Player, go to Tools > Options > “Performance” tab. Move the Hardware Acceleration Slider to None.
