In terms of actual applications, Getting Things GNOME! is a new project available for the GNOME desktop environment, and in it's early stages of development. There's also "Things" for OSX and the iPhone which appears to be doing quite well. Todo/Tasks is obviously a big requirement! I use Exchange/Outlook/iPhone, too.. and still never use the Tasks or the even the Calendar features! Maybe I'm missing out on a bit of organisation...
