While browsers continue to get faster and faster at rendering HTML, web developers can always help themselves by making their site optimized for speed. While there are loads of different tools and methods for performing speed tweaks, a very simple resource worth a look is Google’s Page Speed Online.
Page Speed Online analyzes the content of a web page, then generates suggestions to make that page faster. Reducing page load times can reduce bounce rates and increase conversion rates.
As with most all of Google’s tools, this one is available online with it only requiring a URL from you. You can even tell it to give you information to optimize for either desktop or mobile browsers.
The information it gives you ranges from "low hanging fruit" to content expiration and caching. No matter what your level of knowledge and/or control over your hosting server, the results will most likely give you something useful.
