Less than a week after Apple released the 1.1.3 firmware update for the Iphone, it has been jailbreaked, according to a report at Iphone Atlas.
The jailbreak method is apparently fairly involved and actually requires some sort of hardware change. Because of the complexity of it, the developers of the hack are not yet releasing it publicly. They have, though, released a video on Youtube showing off the jailbreaked Iphone.
If history is any judge, expect some future jailbreaks for 1.1.3 that are easier to accomplish.
The 1.1.3 firmware update was released by Apple at last week’s MacWorld conference, offering up some new features for the device. However, Apple actively tries to break all attempts to jailbreak the device every time they release a firmware update.
And for those who don’t know, jailbreaking the Iphone simply means that they get direct access to the phone’s filesystem, allowing third-party apps to run on the phone. Apple does not allow third-party applications on the phone at this time, however they will be releasing their own SDK in the coming months which will make these jailbreaking hacks old news.
