The self-driving car. You’ve heard about Google making this a reality, but you’ve also heard that, well, the way they do it isn’t safe; the reason for that is that Google, as big as they are, just isn’t a car company and never will be.
Volvo on the other hand is obviously a car company and has a very strong reputation on building some of the safest cars in teh world.
SARTRE, which is Volvo’s method of autonomous driving, uses a “platoon” when several cars are brought together in a “road train” and the technology allows cars to “join” te train so the line of vehicles can pilot along automatically via the lead vehicle.
This actually makes a whole lot of sense because not only is it safer, it also saves fuel when vehicles move along together in this fashion.
Will we see this in 10 years or less? I personally believe that yes, we absolutely will see it. And you can be assured that when Volvo deploys it, it will work, and it will be safe.
