We fell out when he gathered a team of 10 to London for our launch outing - at the Essential Web conference end June. Sam told all of us that the project was fully-funded for a year. He required us to pay our own expenses for the trip "for accounting reasons" and promised we would be reimbursed immediately. I am still waiting for the cheque in the post. My kids lost a summer vacation because of the fiasco but others suffered much worse than me. What astounds me is the number of editors that continued to write and remained loyal to Sam right to the bitter end. A year ago, Sam had a very public falling out with Mike Arrington after Loic Le Meur called Sam "an asshole". Commenting on this (a year ago) Marc Canter said that Loic had every right to call Sam an asshole, because he is an asshole, a manipulative asshole cos that's how they train them at Microsoft. I wish we had all been aware of this sooner.

I was one of Sam Sethi’s victims but only for a couple of months at the very start of the project. Its just amazing to me that the same guy would bomb a company in such a public way then move onto selling warez. What a slimeball.

Who knows what Sam is doing now. Symantec probably zapped him in much the same way they would a trojan. He's out building bricks somewhere. In their business such a breach of trust is not acceptable. But I read another story similar to this regarding Imagestate, a start up stock company.

I doubt if Sam is doing much of anything including warez.
