The Ultimate Windows File Rename Utility

Posted Dec 24, 2008 by Jason Faulkner

Everyone renames files. Whether it is Word documents or a library of pictures, eventually you have to rename a large number of files at once. Using the standard Windows renaming vehicle can be extremely time consuming when you have more than a few files, so instead try Lupas Rename.

Lupas Rename is a free utility which features tons of tools to help you rename, including:

  • Insert any string before and/or after the Filename
  • Replace a substring by other with Matchcase Optional
  • Undo the last rename operation
  • Make a Batch file to rename from a DOS Console
  • Shell Integration (right click on a folder in the explorer to start LupasRename on these folder)

Lupas Rename does not require an installation to work, so you can take with you on a flash drive. This definitely beats the ‘traditional’ method, so be sure to give it a try.
