They are probably right, and I’m probably crazy

No, wait…I think I have that subtitle backwards.  They are crazy, I’m the one that’s correct.  AMD and Intel have raced from 700Mhz to 1GHz in the matter of about a month or two.  I found myself recently asking myself:

“ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR FREAKING MINDS??!?!?”

You bet they are.  What type of business would make a flagship processor, market it for $600, then 2 weeks later, end up having it be a “mid range” processor selling for $400.  As soon as the rest of the “real world” catches on, they’ll be loosing money, because who in their right mind would spend $200 to have a processor 2 weeks in advance?  I know I wouldn’t, and I’m betting you wouldn’t either.  Both Intel and AMD are stepping why over the line in this race.  They might want to take a few months off and let the rest of the industry catch up.  Who needs a 1GHz processor anyway?  I don’t.  I’m very happy with my 550Mhz Celerons, as most people are.  The only reason I would want a 1GHz processor is to show off to everyone, and I’m pretty sure that’s the only reason everyone else wants one.  If it hasn’t dawn on AMD and Intel, a small company by the name of Alpha has already gotten their processor to run at 1Ghz at room temperature a long time ago.  I can see why they are still racing for it.  Being the first company to get a 1GHz processor out on the market will certainly attract the average computer buyer. Opps…that’s right…I forgot.  The knowing only makeup about 10% of the market.  The other 90% of the market are those that will just walk into a computer store and buy the best machine for the most money, because it’s the best at the time.  Now I see the light.  AMD and Intel aren’t crazy, they are just business, looking to prey and the masses with large pocket books and small knowledge of computers.  I’m starting to look down upon AMD now.  Wasn’t there ethics in this industry at one point?

M$, just where in the hell do you think you’re going….today?
Windows Me.  The latest and greatest version of Windows.  In all actuality, it’s just an upgrade from Windows 98, which is an upgrade from Windows 95, which is an upgrade from Windows 3.1, which is an upgrade from Windows 3.0, which is an upgrade from DOS!!!!!  This is technology still based on DOS!  The good ol’e C:> is still around and kicking, too many years after it’s birth.  I swear Microsoft promised that Windows 98 SE would be the last version of Windows to be based on DOS technology…but what was I thinking?  Maybe I was right with the first subtitle…maybe I am crazy.  As always, Windows Me is just another scam to rip you off.  Don’t fall for it.  As we all know, Microsoft never had ethics, balls, or a conscience…just an ego.
