Things that tick me off….besides Politicians and sex offenders

Posted Nov 19, 1999 by mdockter

The total slander of something that one has no information on.
For instance, someone that has never used a Macintosh in their life,
saying they suck.  Another example, someone that has never created
a PC Operating system that is on the majority of PCs in the world,
bashing those that do.  Odd thing of me to bring this up when
Mircro$oft just, basically, got found guilty of being a
“Trust.”  First of all, before you read on, ready my Windows
Bashers Article to get some insight on what I feel about the hard
cold facts of this case.

Although
I believe that Microsoft, mainly their administration, ::cough cough,
William Gates:: has turned their company into a monopoly, for instance,
trying to drive Netscape out of the browser market, so then, they could
start selling their browser for cash.  And, we all know how much Microsoft
loves money.  Now, what if Microsoft is forced to break up?
Highly unlikely.  The reason you ask?  Simple.  They
still serve a purpose.  They offer innovative products for
free.  Such as their Media Player, and Internet Explorer.
Also, their products serve as a standard, which makes compatibility across
PCs easier.  If every PC had a different set of software on it, it
would be harder for files to be transferred from one PC, and be read on
another.  Please note: if you have any rants about what I am
saying, e-mail me, and I will file them away in the recycle bin, brought
to me by Microsoft Windows 2000 RC2. =)

The
bottom line:  Microsoft offers great products, and that should not
be changed.  They are a large asset to the industry.  BUT,
they should be punished for being a trust, and using their position in
the industry to make themselves fatter in the wallet, instead of doing
something productive for the consumer.

RAM,
RAM, everywhere on the page, but not a chip in my store.
Virtual Channel SDRAM, and Double Data Rate SDRAM.  We have all
heard about both standards.  We’ve also heard about RAMBUS.
Problem is…I haven’t seen any on store shelves…have any of
you?  I doubt you have.  All I have to say, is I’d like to see
the DRAM makers put their money where their mouth is.  I want to
see some real chips, in a large quantity, on my store shelves before
Dec. 1st.  I also bet everyone else does.  I also bet there
will be a 70 degree + day before it happens…unless Microsoft gets
involved.

This is the "kitchen sink" e-book for computer maintenance and repair. A jam-packed 346 pages. As Monte Russel (the author) says in his e-book, "Computers have always been complex, but if a guy that grew up out in the boonies in Wyoming can fix 'em, you can also!" Monte is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he served a long career as a computer repair tech and network administrator. LEARN MORE
