Think Twice

Essentially, this tip is a reminder to think twice before opening unknown attachments in emails and downloading unknown files while browsing the internet. In many cases, an email attachment from a co worker or family member is considered “safe” and will not try to execute any malicious actions. However, the same cannot be said about an email from an unknown source. Therefore, simply thinking twice before opening possibly malicious email attachments will help protect your computer from viruses, malware, and spyware, as well as protect your personal data from being exploited. Similarly, thinking twice before downloading a file from an unknown (or untrustworthy) website will prevent against the installation of malicious software on your computer. It may seem obvious, but trust me; if more people simply thought twice, their personal computers would be malware free.

I never open any attachments (directly) from an email.
I save them to my hard drive, then right click them, to scan them.
