Ever wonder what would happen if you installed all the from-service instant messenger client you could get your hands on? Nothing good, that’s what.
There are three and only three instant messenger clients that are worth using anymore. Pidgin, Adium (which is Pidgin for Mac) and Miranda. None of these store your account credentials in the cloud (everything is stored locally), none have ads and all run fast and proper.
Any from-service IM client you download these days is almost exactly like the bad old days of the internet from the late 1990s/early 2000s. Much of the software tries to install needless toolbars, ads are prevalent in the contact list and chat windows on several, there is huge amounts of needless bloat and well, you get the idea.
The video below shows what happens when you install AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! Instant Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, Google Talk and QQ International. It’s not pretty.
