Three Useful Firefox Extensions

Posted Dec 17, 2007 by Rich Menga

In Firefox there are good extensions (a.k.a. “Add-Ons”), not-so-good ones and outright bad ones. The three covered in the video below are genuinely good and useful extensions for your Firefox web browser.

Router Status

This is a very handy extension to quickly check the status of your router. There are options to perform quick functions like router rebooting, DNS resolving and more.

ScreenGrab

I dig this extension because properly grabs the entire contents of any web page and puts it into an image. This is very useful for printing web pages that look exactly like what you see on the screen instead of printing out oddities like mismatched text/images and so on.

FEBE

Link to Add-On: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109

This extension performs full backups of your Firefox extensions, bookmarks, themes and a whole lot more. Using this will allow you to “clone” a browser easily from one computer to the next. In addition it’s always smart to backup browser settings so you don’t have to keep reinstalling things over and over.

PCMech Highly Recommends...

This is the "kitchen sink" e-book for computer maintenance and repair. A jam-packed 346 pages. As Monte Russel (the author) says in his e-book, "Computers have always been complex, but if a guy that grew up out in the boonies in Wyoming can fix 'em, you can also!" Monte is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he served a long career as a computer repair tech and network administrator. LEARN MORE
