Thrustmaster Top Gun Platinum

Final Score and last comments

Highs

  • Solid feel

  • Heavy base prevents sliding

  • Well placed buttons

  • Throttle has wide range of movement

  • Looks cool

Lows

  • Might be getting a little pricey

  • For right handed pilots only

  • No rudder control

  • Needs USB connector

The bottom line:

The Top Gun Platinum doesn’t want to be the most awesome joystick in the Thrustmaster line-up. It’s there to give the casual gamer a good stick at a reasonable price, and I think it does that. There is no denying the weight of the base, and the solid feel of the grip. While the Platinum lacks the dozens of buttons and hat-switches of the higher priced controllers, the four buttons and hat-switch are well placed, and easy to use while flying. For a gamer just trying out the world of flight simulations, or someone looking to replace a worn out PC Raider, you can’t really go wrong with the Thrustmaster Top Gun Platinum.

My Top Gun Thrustmaster has been acting up. When I use the USB plug and insert it into my PC, it is not appearing in the settings or as a controller. I switch to advance settings and it shows as none. Do you have any advice? Should I have a driver installed.
