If you run a website and have to tweak DNS records every now and then, you probably know that the changes can take up to several days to go through the entire internet. While this can be inconvenient, it is especially annoying if you want the changes to go through for you immediately. If you are using OpenDNS, you can force this change to go through almost immediately using their CacheCheck tool.
OpenDNS has huge caches, which is one reason OpenDNS makes your Internet experience faster. With CacheCheck, you can check what OpenDNS customers see when they request a domain. If there’s something amiss, you may refresh OpenDNS’s cache for that domain.
By using this tool, you can see how OpenDNS resolves the domain name in question and if it is not correct, you can tell it to refresh. I did this the other day after swapping a domain to a new IP and the changes went through in about a minute. Of course, this change is pushed through to anyone using OpenDNS.
