Just make sure that the speakers you buy have audio in and outs on the back of the speakers. It sounds better than the mini plug to audio inputs connection.I know, I know, everyone (who's that?:)is downloading music these days, but if you're truly looking to pinch those pennies, this works well.I currently have a Samsung dvd player direct connected to a pair of those much disputed oh my goodness Bose Companion 2 multi media speakers. I only live in a 800 square foot apartment though with grouchy old neighbors so this fits the bill quite well. However, yes I am considering hooking back up that old big ugly bulky PC CPU box so that I can too have equalizer sound, and yes become one of those download musicers :) So, great article...just wanted to pass on to those that are truly lacking funds that there is another option. Have a great day, and enjoy life everyday!

Another money saving way is to simply buy a pair of decent powered multimedia speakers (Klipsch, Bose, Altec Lansing, etc), then connect directly to your existing dvd player, whalah! you have a stereo to use to play your cd’s!
