You have probably seen lots of posts on this and other web sites touting one of Linux’s uses being a recovery tool. Of course, when this is said, it is usually a mere bullet point with no explanation of how to actually do the file recovery process. The author does a very good job in walking you through the process of recovering your Windows files by using a freely available Ubuntu Live CD. The author also makes good use of screenshots to illustrate all the major steps along the way.
This one is worthy of a bookmark in the event you ever do actually need to recover some of your data… of course make sure you put the bookmark somewhere you can get to it.
