WinBackup Review

PC owners often hear about the importance of backing up the data on their PC. The importance of this could not be overstated. For most people, the value of their PC is not in the hardware itself nor the software on it, but the data that is housed on its hard drive. Hard drives fail. They all do at some point. So, it is important to maintain fresh backups so you can restore your PC should something go bad. I emphasize the word fresh, because any backup that is several weeks or months old is going to be useless to you, especially if you use your PC a lot as I do. Therefore, it is nice to have a tool that you can use to set up your backups. This tool should make it easy to arrange backups (you don’t want to manually copy-n-paste all of your data files – oh no) and help you schedule them. At least for me, the ability to schedule the backups is a real plus point. I leave my PC on all night, and it is best to take advantage of that to allow your PC to take care of all of the boring grunt work on its own time.

There are a lot of ways to do a backup. All versions of Windows have some kind of backup functionality. Early versions had a backup function for copying files to a tape drive or diskette drive. Later versions of Windows had a System Restore utility, but this could be a real pain to use. No, we needed a real utility that would help make backups easy enough that it would actually get done, even with a busy schedule. WinBackup, by LIUtilities, is such a product.
