You have probably head time and time again about the myriad number of Linux distributions and their Live CDs which are great for trying the OS or recovery tasks. Focusing more on the recovery uses, what if Windows is your OS of choice? If this is the case, check out BartPE.

BartPE is a preconfigured bootable Windows disc which is non-destructive to your existing installation. You can use BartPE to perform many recovery tasks using all the Windows tools you are comfortable with. The installation is pretty straightforward and simple and is provided step-by-step on the web site.

This is a great tool for system admins and technicians who are experts in windows to have around. If you combine this live CD with all your tools on a USB drive, you can do just about anything.
