Windows XP Alt-Tab Replacement Tool

Posted Sep 6, 2007 by Jason Faulkner

The ability to use the Alt-Tab key combination to switch to active programs is a tremendous shortcut in Windows. One problem, however, is the Alt-Tab dialog only displays the program icon along with the title of the application. While this is good enough most of the time, it falls a little short when you have multiple copies of the same program running (such as a browser).

Windows Vista improves on this dialog by offering a preview of each Window while you Alt-Tab through them and you can add this same functionality through this Windows XP utility. This program is released by Microsoft and is designed to add a preview of each open application as you switch between them.

Once you have it, you can’t go back. Enjoy.

Monte is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he served a long career as a computer repair tech and network administrator. LEARN MORE
