Would You Get a Mac? [Poll]

So, here’s the question…

If expense was not an issue, would you get yourself a Mac?

Yes, it costs more to acquire a Mac. IT can be hard for some to justify the idea of buying a Mac when you can easily find a Windows PC with better specs for less money. We’re all familiar with the arguments pro and con. The debate will never die.

So, let’s remove the idea of cost. Just merits of the machines – would you get a Mac?

If expense was not an issue there would be TONS of cool toys that I would have! I would get myself a mac though just to give it a try and see what the benefits are compared to PC. I would be very slow to convert though as I know so much about PC am able to repair and build them, would be a little leery to just up and switch!
Have never seen any comparisons of stats between mac and PC, maybe you can help! Dave, how does your mac pro stand against say a 4 core PC, 2.8 GHZ, with the same amount and speed of ram running window 7?

Yes, PCs can be a pain sometimes, but no, absolutely never would I get a Mac.
I don’t doubt that a lot of people use PCs because of the cost issue. But I also don’t know why it is so hard for Mac guys to understand that not everybody is “better off” switching to a Mac. There are valid reasons to use either. Cost is one but not the only one. Pick what works better for you.

I actually have BOTH a PC and a Mac at home. If I didn’t work in a Windows-centric environment I probably wouldn’t own a PC. I do lots of photo editing as a hobby, and the Mac is far and away nicer (IMHO) for that job — much faster, and the graphics on my 27″ iMac monitor are SO incredibly crisp.
I have a well-heeled friend who owns a Power Mac. He has Parallels installed, and has partitions for OS X, Win 7, and Linux. Yes, the machine is expensive, but he has the best of all worlds on one machine.
One other thing I want to say is that my Mac “simply works.” I have a printer connected to my desktop PC, and I’ve never been able to print to it from any other PC. Yes, I have printer sharing set, etc…it SHOULD work, but it never has. So when I got the Mac, we set it up, and within 20 minutes of turning it on, I was sending documents to the printer on the PC — no problem.
Yes–we paid more for the iMac than we would have for an equivalently appointed PC, but for me, it’s been worth it.

One other thing I forgot to mention: very few viruses target Macs. I’m a pretty careful surfer and haven’t had to deal with viruses in a long time. Odds are pretty slim, though, that I will ever have to deal with them on the Mac.

I will not go for MAC because,
1. It’s expensive.
2. I am very familiar with PCs running Windows. I can even repair and build them my self.
But I wish that PCs could run at the same speeds that MACs do…

I us both Mac & PC. While Apple is far from perfect, I love my new 27″ i7 iMac. If you think a Mac is expensive, go to a the website of a premium PC maker (like Alienware) and spec-out a really good PC. Apple makes top-of-the-line stuff and they don’t give it away. I have Windows 7 (running via VMware Fusion) on my new iMac, but OS X seems far better. I have a PC (running XP) that I use to get my upgrade-the-hardware fix.

Nope. I wouldn’t. Unless the game support got better, there be no point in me buying one. I don’t like having partitions or other OS on one machine.
