Yahoo Messenger for Vista Now Available

If you are using Windows Vista, this may be of interest to you. Yahoo is releasing their new Messenger client specifically designed for Vista. This is a preview release, so make sure you understand that bugs are to be expected. Whether you can blame those bugs on Vista or Messenger is another story.

Picture 1Why a special version just for Vista? Well, mainly to take advantage of the new graphics engine inside Vista to give you a prettier look. You’ll see a lot more window transparency, for example. You can now organize your conversations into tabs, put Messenger into the Windows Sidebar, arrange your contacts into multiple columns, etc.

I’m not really sure what kind of fanfare this is going to get. Windows Vista isn’t exactly getting the warmest reception as people are hesitant to upgrade to it. And, quite frankly, I’m not sure many people use Yahoo’s chat network. But, perhaps I am wrong.

That said, if you use Vista and Yahoo, give it a try. It’ll at least look pretty.
