Let's Do This...

Build Your Own Server

With the advent of new technologies these days, households are not only starting to have 1 PC, but 2 or more PCs, with a high speed Ethernet internet connection, such as Cable or xDSL. With 2 or more PCs, it’s very convenient to network them, and after spending money on 2 PCs, you probably don’t’ have much left for a huge network, let alone a server. But, with this guide, you can probably create a network server for under $750.

With this server, you will be able to share your high speed connection, (For the sake of my sanity, from now on, I will call it cable connection, or cable modem.) Run a Quake Server for LAN Games, and turn your server into a web/internet/ftp server using mostly free/cheap utilities.

First things first, you’ll need to get some components.

Hi, Am Billy my company is into Content service provisioning with GSM operators via shortcodes over SMPP. I do an average of 15 sms/second (Inbound and Outbound). I need a new server and have been advised by a technician to get an “Intel Xeon 3000, 3Ghz Quad-core Processor, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD (SATA). QUESTION: Do you think this will work well considering my volume? If no, what will be your recommendation? I will need you to do me a Proforma Invoice in US Dollars as well as your Wire transfer details. Kindly incude “Casing, DVD Writter, Network card, Windows XP Pro SP2 or above (Lisenced), Workmanship cost as well as shipment cost to the address Below

well there is a much better computer that you can get made from apple depending on how much you are willing to spend on this computer. It is the Mac pro. It has eight cores. Up to 32 GBs of ram and a 4 TB harddrive, but the best investment to make is on digitalstormonline.com. With 12 GBs of ram and up to 24 TB of hard drive space Oh and don’t forget an Intel i7 four core processor running at (after overclocking) anywhere from 4Ghz to 4.4Ghz and up to 6GBs of video ram. It is just amazing check it out

never buy a mac unless you want it for the OS. Their computers are overpriced so much. for 3200$ (starting cost of mac pro) i could build a 4 processor total of 16 cores 3ghz 667$, 500$ for the motherboard, 100$ for the power supply, 100$ for case, 64 gigs of ddr800 ram for 1360$, didnt leave me much for harddrives so 6TB 7200RPM of harddrive space.
btw if its for just about anything outside of rendering quadcore is pretty useless and an i7 can cost something like 300$ to 1,200$ my 60$ processor overclocked to 4.2ghz dualcore can beat it in just about anything.

I created a server that contained 6 hard drives. Made out of an asus terminator motherboard. works fine with Ubuntu server edition. Ubuntu is installed on a 16 GB flash drive. I’m 12, yet i love computers. the only drawback to my server is that its kinda slow, but i only had to spend 200 dollars on hard drives and RAM.

You can buy a fully-configured quad-core server for $449 at Dell.
