Build Your Own Server

With the advent of new technologies these days, households are not only starting to have 1 PC, but 2 or more PCs, with a high speed Ethernet internet connection, such as Cable or xDSL. With 2 or more PCs, it’s very convenient to network them, and after spending money on 2 PCs, you probably don’t’ have much left for a huge network, let alone a server. But, with this guide, you can probably create a network server for under $750.

With this server, you will be able to share your high speed connection, (For the sake of my sanity, from now on, I will call it cable connection, or cable modem.) Run a Quake Server for LAN Games, and turn your server into a web/internet/ftp server using mostly free/cheap utilities.

First things first, you’ll need to get some components.
