Where exactly are you trying to input an IPaddress?? Are you saying that you have the little bubble at the bottom right corner of your taskbar that is saying media state disconnected?? If so then you have a physical problem with the cable you are using to connect to the router, or your nic card is not installed properly. Lets start at the basics here.. With the cable plugged into your PC and the router, do you get a link light on both sides, (on your nic card near where the cable plugs in, and right on the router port near the cable end)?? We also need to check device manager under network adapters, and be sure yours is installed correctly..
