K, well, I disconnected the 2nd drive from the computer and reinstalled Mandriva. Then I went in to mount the drive again and this time I wasn't denied the action of mounting. However, it still wouldn't show the contents of the drive. So I messed with the mount command a little and harddrake. This time I got no error messages of any kind anywhere. I put the mount code into fstab and rebooted and then finally I was able to see the contents of the drive. Sweet! So now I know how to avoid this crap next time. Again, thanks for your help.
