Accessing Windows shares from Linux

OK, I have successfully transformed my main computer into Mandrake 8.0. Now, I am forced to learn this OS. But, I need a little help. I played around with Samba for awhile, and I get the feeling that it only allows windows machines to access linux files and not vice versa. I read that you guys have had trouble with setting up a linux box to use a networked printer on windows, but that is one of my objectives. Also, to be able to access a shared folder on the network with all of my mp3's on it! I've been working at this for hours, and finally learned that to access a computer on the network, you type: "lan://homeofficecomputer"... I tried that, and it did not work. And I couldn't find anything in Samba to allow window's shares. Oh well, any suggestion!??!?
