Buggy Internet Explorer 7
So I installed the public release beta version again and I have that constantly “connecting..” pop up message all over the place when I am accessing the Internet from my broadband dial-up connection.
So they still haven’t fixed that bug new in IE7 yet. As the last time after I removed the leaked version, everything worked fine. All right, I am going back to v6 again.
However, after I removed v7, IE failed to start at all!! It was complaining about missing IEFRAME.DLL, I did a bit of google and asked my friend for that file. It turned out that IEFRAME.DLL is only used by IEv7, but not IEv6. I checked the version of “iexplore.exe” and horrors! It is still v7 after the proper uninstallation procedure!
As last resort, I asked my friend for a copy of iexplore.exe (v6) and replaced iexplore.exe (v7), and now things start to work ok again. Except that when I go to options, IE will complain about not access rights or something.
Damn buggy.

I hoipe your recovery CD is capable of doing a sfc /scannow. If not, you may wind up having to do a full recovery.
When you tried system restore, did you pick a date from before you installed IE7 the first time? That's the only way it will help you here.

I did, and it didn't work! {because you need ieFrame.dll} I fixed it by doing thye sfc/scannow... and I didn't need my disk! It was all on the Compaq Recovery Patition!!! {At least I think it was}
