changing the registered owner in the registry indeed changed the owner (now it's the lab instead of the computer department).
however the original issue remains, when the computer boots, it displays the name "Electrical" instead of my account name. i can still log on with my password but i want my name displayed so no visitor even attempts to sit at my desk and touch my computer.
