Thanks to everyone for the help. I upgraded to a P4 3.4 Ghz and checked the CMOS to make sure of the settings. The temps showed 62c and that was just the CMOS; turn on Folding@home and temps would climb to 75c. Room around 73 or 74F. Today I reseated the heatsink: after loading the OS it showed 51c; not where I want to be but a big improvement. I wonder about the heatsink: it seems very marginal. Anyway, thanks again to everyone here for the help.
