Rebates are a marketing ploy. The whole idea is to entice you into buying the product with the rebate offer and then making it very difficult to get the rebate...not to mention dragging their feet on cutting you a check for as long as possible so that they can accrue interest on the money that they would otherwise be sending to you as soon as they received the rebate form.
You can bet the accounts payable department pays their bills on time and more frequently than they send out rebates to customers.
