Update:

I tried two different laptops and one of them picked up the signal from the wireless router. Anything beyond a four feet radius of the router antena could not pick up the signal. However, I was able to pick up internet two feet away. I checked the "Attatched devices" in the router config page to make sure I was on the right router. As a result, I will be picking up a new wireless router.

I plan to pick up the Linksys WRT54GL 802.11G wireless router (the Newegg link is currently down). I've been told that the newer versions of the WRT54G is considerably weak and crippled. Thoughts? Suggestions? The house is fairly old with, what I see to be, somewhat thick walls. Is MIMO (on 802.11g) something to keep in mind?

Thanks.
