on the LAN side of the network, it is vital that each device have their own MAC address, no sharing allowed here.

you can clone a PC's MAC address on the WAN port of a router as the WAN port is, technically, on a seperate network and the router only deals with IP addresses, it cares little about MAC addresses (the layer 3 and layer 2 of the OSI model respectively).
