I try to remain in contact with the new 802.1 n standards, which have been in a state of limbo for over a year and a half. The best thing you could do, in my opinion, is pick one manufacturer who is selling their version of the MIMO/802.1n product, not yet finalized between wireless manufacturers, and purchase everything from that same manufacturer. I like Belkin, but there are many other choices for n, pre n, and MIMO products which are built to mimimize the problems you are having.
I beleive the 802.1n standard will be here relatively soon, and most of those manufacturers will adjust their firmware via updates once the standard is finally nailed down. Until then you can use the same manufacturers products and protocols to solve your short term problem.
This is what I would do, at least. Take it for what its worth.
